This week we premiere a new segment that you will be hearing on a regular basis. “Real Weddings” is a discussion with a bride and groom about their big day and the planning that is going into it.

On this weeks show we discuss tips for making you photos and video the best that they can be. We didn’t have a particular order during the show since we were merging several lists so I decided to make a nice and neat list that you find below.

Before the Day:

  • Get plenty of sleep
  • Stay hydrated on the wedding day and the week before
  • Test your make up in photos
  • Secure permission from the locations where you want photos and video
  • Plan extra time for travel between locations

During the Day:

  • NO GUM! Get mints for everyone!
  • Face powder and blotting cloths are your friends
  • Smile: Don’t just smile when a formal photo is being taken

During and After the Ceremony:

  • See each other before the ceremony
  • Clear everyone out from behind the bride when she is coming down the aisle
  • Walk down the aisle slowly… enjoy the moment!
  • Have formal “Shot List” for your photographer and assign someone from the family to help organize people
  • Skip the park: Ask your photographer for alternate locations

During the Reception:

  • Work with your photographer and videographer on the lighting for your reception
  • Clear the reception hall 10 minutes before your guests enter
  • First Dance: Don’t choreograph a dance unless you completely comfortable with it
  • Don’t talk about anything else except for each other during the first dance

Found an article I thought I would post about bridal makeup tips for your wedding day.

People say that the bride is the center of a wedding’s attention. When someone is watching you, you always want to look your best. With the aid of makeup artists, your bridal makeup can be the perfect one.

In the news: Target selling wedding dresses, Trash The Dress, iPod vs. DJs.

Main Feature: Top 5 (or 7) Wedding Day Mistakes

  • Hiring incompetent vendors or allowing family members to do what you should hire a pro to do.
  • Not planning enough time - not allowing time for travel, makeup touchups, etc…
  • Improper food and beverage choices - Not drinking enough or drinking to much of one thing (alcohal)
  • Attire - Trying on the dress, proper shoes, picking up the tux the night before. And don’t worry about your dress getting dirty.
  • Not giving clear instructions or requests to the DJ’s/Musicians
  • Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff - Put someone else in charge of taking care of the details. Don’t worry about every detail instead of enjoying the day.
