James and Genevieve Nisly are the husband and wife team behind Genevieve Nisly Photography. Although the business bares Genevieve’s name, it is very much a collaboration of Genevieve’s heart and James’ brains. They live and operate out of Canton, Ohio but shoot all over the Northeast Ohio region.

Genevieve earned a degree in art education from Kent State University and began shooting weddings while trying to navigate the labyrinth of Ohio teacher accreditation. The prospect of teaching began to look worse and worse, while the possibilities in weddings began to look better and better. In the fall of 2004, she hung up her apple brooch and sweater vests to pursue photography full time, and hasn’t looked back since.

Although James has been deeply involved with Genevieve Nisly Photography for several years, he recently left his job as an Electronics Technician to be able to commit all of his time and energy where it belongs: photography.  If Genevieve is the heart of Genevieve Nisly Photography, James is the brain.

Genevieve and James are at their best when shooting and working together and truly enjoy the flexibility of running their own business so that they can spend time with their beautiful daughter Rochelle, and brand new son, Ezra.
